Hello again, and Happy Mother’s Day! Our Guest Editor program returns this week with a perfect example of why we started cajoling some of our favorite writers and editors into the formidable task of curating an edition of the SLR. Each of our esteemed contributors has shared their unique perspective on the craft—and highlighted a few stories we might not have come across otherwise. Today, Kevin Nguyen, the features editor at The Verge, has raised the bar once again (He even said he had fun doing it!).

One of the pieces Kevin edited was just honored as a Pulitzer finalist for Feature Writing and two pieces with his fingerprints on them are finalists for the ASME’s Reporting award. Previously, Kevin Nguyen was a senior editor at GQ. His first novel, New Waves, was published in March, just in time for his book tour to be cancelled.
