This week felt particularly devastating for the journalism world, as multiple newsrooms faced painful cuts. It also felt distinctly exhausting for the scores of journalists surrounded by uncertainty still trying to do their jobs. At the end of it, we hope this week’s list, as stuffed with awe-inspiring work as ever, helps in some small way. Maybe it’s just as a reminder of what can still be achieved—of what is still being achieved.

The SLR team will be off next week for Memorial Day, but we will still have a special edition for our members, whose support is truly invaluable.
