As you may have noticed, there is a new symbol at the top of our website. We thought we’d give a quick rundown on why we love it:

  1. Sun? Sunday? Get it?

  2. Each of the 20 rays represents one story we recommend each Sunday, sending our readers hurtling into the web.

  3. The emphasis on the ‘Cardinal directions’ reminds us of our duty to guide our readers responsibly.

  4. We like orange. Do you like orange?

  5. Everybody needs a logo these days, right? We hope you enjoy ours!

About us

The goal of The Sunday Long Read newsletter is simple: To put the past week’s best journalism in your hands every Sunday morning—or, as a friend said, “to screw up my Sundays with far too much great stuff to read.”

Words from a reader

" Sundays used to be for sitting on the couch reading the paper. That was before the Internet—and before I had kids. Now my Sunday reading habit begins (and sometimes ends) with The Sunday Long Read. The best, longform journalism across a variety of subjects curated by a man who knows a little something about really good reporting: Don Van Natta Jr. The Sunday Long Read not only broadens my horizons but also makes me feel good about the future of journalism. Seeing so many great stories in one place is an affirmation of the power and potential that reporting still retains. "
